Chesed is practised by those who accept and fulfill the obligation of Gemilut Chasadim, Deeds of Loving Kindness. Our mission is to work as volunteers alongside our clergy to help our fellow Adath Israel members.
If you are:
- Dealing with a difficult situation such as illness, bereavement, loneliness or unemployment.
- A new member and you would like a 'buddy' to familiarize you with the synagogue.
- A new parent who would like to talk to someone.
- Dealing with separation, divorce or death of a spouse or loved one and would like to meet with others who are coping with similar experiences.
If you are in need of our help or if you would like to volunteer to serve our members, please call the synagogue office at (416) 635-5340.

Humanitarian Fund
The Chesed Committee has been designated by the Board of Governors to allocate funds currently held in the Humanitarian Fund.
Criteria for the allocation of funds to worthy causes include:
•Targeting donations to those causes that do not typically receive many donations, and for which small donations might make a considerable difference. •Half of the amount given in each year will be related to Jewish causes, and half to general causes, with a fair split between local and worldwide allocation.
If you are aware of any worthy cause that meets the above criteria, please let us know.
For further information about participating in the activities of this committee, please contact me at carolweir18@gmail.com.
