In November, 2019, Adath Israel members approved a brand new Constitution.
Why did we introduce a new Constitution?
After many years serving our congregation, our prior constitution, which was first adopted in 1988 and amended in 2012, became outdated and changes needed to be made to address current day requirements. Throughout 2019, our Ad Hoc Constitution Review Committee conducted a series of meetings to better understand the present day needs of the synagogue and what changes were required to follow best practices in modern-day corporate governance.
The committee developed a draft constitution which was approved by our Board of Governors and its Executive before it was taken to the membership in early November, 2019 where it received overwhelming approval.
The new constitution will take effect once the new Board is installed in June, 2020.
