The C. C. Ross Fund
The C.C. Ross Fund was created to honour Cecilia Ross, or Cecie, (C.C.) as she was fondly known. Cecilia was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba; the youngest of 3 children.
The Ross family placed a great emphasis on education, and C.C. excelled at school. She graduated from the University of Manitoba and then went on to earn a Chartered Accountancy designation at a time when few women were accepted into professional schools. At the time, there were only three female students in her class.
After graduation she moved to Toronto and started working at Price Waterhouse and it was there that a colleague introduced her to her future husband Howard.
Cecilia and Howard had three children, Lisa, Jonathan and Amanda. They joined Adath Israel and all their children celebrated their B’nai Mitzvah at the synagogue.
Cecilia raised her children in a loving and caring home, instilling in them, from an early age, not only the importance of an education but also her strong moral values. At the same time she worked alongside Howard in their family business.
Sadly, Cecilia died at the age of 45 and unfortunately she did not live to see her children, her legacy, graduate from high school, university, marry, have children and grow into successful and responsible adults.
After her death, a dear family friend created the Cecilia Ross Memorial Endowment Fund at Adath Israel to honour her treasured memory.
