Come Meet a Unit of Released Elite IDF Combat Soldiers! Save the Date:
Adath Israel has partnered with Peace of Mind Canada in a new initiative for our shul, generously sponsored by the Ben and Sylvia Marks z”l Charitable Foundation.
Peace of Mind is an organization dedicated to facilitating the emotional and psychological support of released IDF elite combat soldiers who have experienced difficult battle situations.
Peace of Mind is a 9-month long program that bring units of released IDF elite combat soldiers to Canada who are shouldering the burden of their battle experiences, for one week of intensive group therapy and bonding with the Jewish community. While they are overseas, participants engage in therapeutic sessions, as well as orientation and concluding sessions in Israel, and receive individualized therapy upon their return home.
Senior Rabbi, Adam Cutler, is very familiar with the program. “Peace of Mind is an exceptional opportunity for Adath Israel to show its support for Israel. Having seen the program in action, I know the long-lasting positive impact Peace of Mind has on the soldiers as well as their host families. I strongly encourage our community to support this important endeavor with generosity and love.”
For members of Adath Israel Congregation, this is your opportunity to meet and host elite combat soldiers.
During the week of March 31 – April 7, 2019, we encourage members of our shul to invite 2 soldiers into their homes.
On Friday, April 5, 2019, we will invite host families along with the entire congregation to join our Peace of Mind soldiers for a meaningful Shabbat dinner and on April 6, please join us for a special Shabbat service. More information will be shared in the new year so that you can register.
If you would like more information about hosting or supporting/sponsoring future units at Adath Israel, please contact Israel Affairs Committee Chair, Belinda Schneeweiss firstname.lastname@example.org
Please mark your calendars to ensure you participate and show your support!
