Program Coordinator - Youth
Adath Israel Congregation, one of Toronto’s leading Conservative synagogues, is looking to hire a full-time or part-time Program Coordinator to work with our Director of Programming. The core responsibilities of this position will be working with our Youth. Responsibilities will include some creating deeper connections and engagement amongst our children, teenagers, and young family members through the delivery of meaningful experiential and ritual-based programs. Flexibility in position hours and days can be negotiated.
OVERVIEW
This is an exciting, hands-on role, responsible for planning and implementing programs for young families and their children, aged 0 to 18.
Through innovative programs and a focus on relationship-building, the Youth Director will play an integral role in guiding children, teens, and their families as they grow in their own Jewish lives religiously, culturally, and socially.
The full-time role is approximately 40 hours-per-week, and if part-time, the hours are negotiable (20-30). The successful candidate will work with the Director of Programming to create a schedule that makes sense for the Congregation and for staff. Ideally the candidate should be available on Saturday mornings, occasional Sunday afternoons and/or weekday evenings, and on most Jewish holidays. We are looking for a candidate who is flexible and committed.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan and implement age-appropriate programming for children in a range of age cohorts and their families. This may include:
• Weekly Shabbat programs
• Jewish holidays and Festivals
• After-class programs on Sunday afternoons
• Teen specific programs including chesed initiatives
• General youth-oriented and family programs
SKILLS
• Knowledge of Jewish customs and practices, specifically in a Conservative synagogue environment
• MS Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook. PowerPoint knowledge is an asset
• Comfort with social media used by the various age cohorts
• Strong organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
• Able to lead Shabbat and Holiday services is an asset (not a necessity)
QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience working with children/youth in a programming role
• An asset working in the Jewish community (summer camp experience, etc.)
SALARY
The salary is starting at $25,000 with a potential increase based on experience for this part time position.
